Morning of Service at the Dupont Underground

On Saturday, June 1st, 2019 LA.IDEA in partnership with the Dupont Underground organized the first Morning of Service event. Building up on the strong relationship that both organizations have established throughout the last few years, Lucrecia Laudi, Director of Volunteers, invited LA.IDEA members to help transform the space and get ready for upcoming exhibits at the historic tunnels that lay beneath Dupont Circle.

The morning started with coffee and donuts and a brief welcoming and introduction of the Dupont Underground by Lucrecia Laudi and Robert W. Meins, CEO of the Dupont Underground. Jose Leo Arango, Co-chair of LA.IDEA, greeted the attendees and thank everyone for participating and giving their time for the cause.

After touring the main tunnel and receiving direction about the different tasks, the volunteers proceeded to work for approximately an hour, while enjoying conversations and music playing in the background. The attendees were also able to take a sneak peak of the Pride Month exhibit by the Library of Congress, which was debuting the same day.

The service hour ended with pizza and a presentation by Julian Hunt, Founder of the Dupont Underground. Julian showed a video of the history of the space and discussed the vision for the future of the space.
